Bolter Hoodie

A "bolter" is a term used to describe an aircraft that attempts to make a landing on the carrier's deck but fails to catch one of the arresting cables with its tailhook. As a result, the aircraft's landing attempt is unsuccessful, and it has to execute a "bolter" by applying full power and taking off again to make another landing attempt.

Bolters are a part of carrier-based aviation operations, and they occur occasionally, especially during challenging landing conditions or when there are issues with the aircraft's approach and tailhook engagement. Each bolter requires quick decision-making by the pilot to safely regain altitude and reattempt the landing.
