In 1967 during the Vietnam War, Captain Bob Pardo performed a daring act of airmanship, later known as "Pardo's Push." After his wingman Captain Earl Aman’s F-4 Phantom was severely damaged and leaking fuel, Pardo used his own F-4 to push the crippled jet to safety.

Positioning his nose against Aman's extended tailhook, Pardo carefully maneuvered through turbulence, pushing the damaged aircraft approximately 88 miles toward Laos. When both jets ran out of fuel, the crews ejected and were rescued.

Initially criticized, Pardo was later awarded the Silver Star for this extraordinary feat, a testament to ingenuity and the bonds of military aviation.
